ICHM was established in 1992 by the State Government of South Australia, the Swiss Hotel Association (SHA) and the Lipman family to be the hotel school of choice for the industry professionals of tomorrow.
Visionary ICHM founder, Rex Lipman based the degrees on a commitment to excellence with a belief the finest education and training are essential for producing graduates who are internationally ready to take up senior roles in the highly competitive hotel and hospitality industry.
The college welcomed its first intake of students in the same year the prestigious Swiss Hotel School’s Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne celebrated its first 100 years.
ICHM is the leading hotel and hospitality school in Australia for the quality of its student experience, according to the leading Australian Government national QILT Student Experience Survey (SES) survey.
ICHM also delivers outstanding career prospects with 87% of students securing jobs in the industry immediately after graduation. The structure of ICHM’s programs whereby students undertake a 21-week study semester with a 20 to 25 week industry placement (often paid) contributes to ICHM graduates’ employability.
The Adelaide based International College of Hotel Management operated as a family-owned business until January 2017. Now part of UP Education, the largest private education provider in New Zealand, acquired ICHM in 2020.
ICHM offers undergraduate and post graduate business, hotel and hospitality management degrees and has recently added an additional suit of Bachelor of Business qualifications in Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Business. ICHM, this is not business as usual.
