IHEA members continue to lead the way in the QILT Student Experience Survey

IHEA welcomes the release of the 2024 Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) survey on Wednesday 17 September 2025.

We congratulate many of our members for being amongst the best performed independent higher education providers.
QILT results that were pooled for 2023-24 to increase the sample size and enhance the reliability and consistency of the ratings.

When considering the university cohort only, the top four rated universities amongst undergraduates for overall education were independent universities that are also IHEA members:
1st Australian University of Theology (university status was received in December 2024)
2nd The University of Divinity
3rd Avondale University
4th Bond University

When considering results amongst all Australian higher education providers, IHEA members were rated in 20 of the top 23 positions for overall education experience amongst undergraduates, including:
2nd Marcus Oldham College
4th Leaders Institute
5th Australian University of Theology
6th Campion College Australia

IHEA CEO Dr Peter Hendy said that “it is pleasing that the best performed IHEA members are rated in the top positions, which is a reflection of the high quality of education that students receive at independent higher education providers”.
“It is a testament to the commitment and quality of these independent providers that they are able to outperform larger, publicly-funded universities to deliver the best overall educational experience and outcomes for their students”, reflected Dr Hendy.

“Provider quality and student experience has never been more important and there is an opportunity for the high- quality education that students receive at independent higher education providers, in particular at IHEA members, to be recognised in Government decision making”, Dr Hendy said.
