IHEA Welcomes the University of Divinity as a New Member

Independent Higher Education Australia (IHEA) welcomes the University of Divinity to its ranks with IHEA membership.

“The University of Divinity is a wonderful fit as IHEA’s newest member," said IHEA CEO, Simon Finn.

“The University of Divinity shares the goals of our members to provide higher education that meets the educational goals of students, and the community expectation of accessible high-quality teaching and learning for all Australians.

“The University has been delivering high-quality teaching and research in theology, philosophy, and spirituality for over one hundred years and has prepared many graduates for ministry, leadership, and community service.

“The University of Divinity consistently ranks among the highest rated institutions for quality by students in the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teach (QILT) surveys.”

With the membership of the University of Divinity, IHEA now represents all four Table B universities: the University of Divinity, Bond University, Torrens University, and Avondale University.

“IHEA membership now includes the four Australian independent universities enabling a collective representative voice to government for independent universities and complements IHEA’s large membership of high-quality independent institutes and colleges,” Simon Finn said.

University of Divinity Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Sherlock said he is delighted for the university to be admitted to IHEA membership.

“IHEA is the peak body for high quality independent higher education in Australia and the leading voice on the future direction of the sector,” Professor Sherlock said.

“The University of Divinity is keen to join with IHEA members from across Australia in progressing the work of independent higher education providers, and the sector more broadly.

“We look forward to making a valuable contribution to IHEA’s work and adding our expertise and experience to the collective effort of IHEA members across teaching, research, and community service.”
